A European Friendship App, Les Amis, Makes Its Way to New York

Navigating adult friendships, especially in new cities, often proves challenging. Fortunately, the digital era offers solutions, as apps increasingly facilitate social connections. Leading the charge is Les Amis, a platform focused on uniting women, transgender, and LGBTQ+ individuals. Primarily targeting individuals in their 20s to 40s, this app is distinguished by its advanced AI matching system.
The app, co-founded by Anna Bilych and Oleg Pashinin, was born out of Anna's personal challenges in rebuilding her social network post-relocation. Launching in New York this month marks its strategic entry into the U.S. market, broadening its reach beyond Europe.
Les Amis, an app designed to foster friendships, operates akin to a dating app. Users create profiles, sharing their interests, which include activities such as yoga and poetry. An AI assistant, "Amis," facilitates the matching process, connecting users with shared interests and similar life stages, whether they are new to town or seeking professional networking opportunities.
Every two weeks, the app's AI engine updates matches, allowing users to arrange meet-ups and explore diverse local events, from pottery classes to Pilates.
In extending its horizons, Les Amis has also introduced "Trips," offering group travel experiences to exotic locales such as Morocco and the Amalfi Coast.
Currently a membership subscription service, Les Amis charges $70 monthly in New York. This fee facilitates participation in experiences not just locally but in any city the app operates.
Although New York has yet to host Les Amis events, over 2,000 users have eagerly signed up. Since its inception, the app boasts 120,000 downloads, with 30,000 women engaging in events.
With ambitions set high, Les Amis plans further expansion into key U.S. cities, aiming to enhance its service scope and user experience continuously.
