Apple’s New Siri May Allow Users to Operate Apps Using Voice

Apple recently demonstrated a sophisticated and intelligent version of Siri, described as capable of integrating with different apps to retrieve a variety of data. Despite this ambitious demonstration, the revamped Siri remains unreleased as Apple reportedly faces development challenges.

According to a Bloomberg report, Apple is currently testing a version of Siri that can perform actions across different apps using voice commands. This move is part of an update to Apple’s App Intents framework, which enables developers to permit user access to specific app components via different systems like search and Shortcuts.

Should this new Siri and App Intents system prove successful, users would have the ability to command Siri to perform tasks such as locating and editing photos, commenting on social media, or logging into services, all through voice commands.

This voice-operated functionality is presently being tested with apps such as Uber, AllTrails, Threads, Temu, Amazon, YouTube, Facebook, and WhatsApp. Previous reports indicated that Apple was planning for a spring 2026 release of this upgraded Siri.
