Google Gemini Now Adapts to Your Conversations

Google's chatbot, Gemini, is evolving in how it interacts with user data, with new exciting features that enhance its responsiveness. The recent update allows the AI to remember chat details to provide better answers, though users can opt for a 'temporary chat' feature to keep specific interactions from influencing the AI's understanding.

Earlier, users had the option to personalize Gemini through Google search history, a feature that has since been updated. Now, with the 'Personal Context' mode, Gemini can retain details of past conversations to tailor its responses even more precisely.

This approach is designed to improve the relevance of recommendations provided by Gemini. However, it is separate from explicit saved instructions which inform its outputs. While it may enrich the user experience, concerns exist about the potential for AI chatbots to foster misconceptions.

The 'Personal Context' feature is initially available with the Gemini 2.5 Pro model but won't be accessible in certain regions like the EU, UK, or Switzerland. The feature is also restricted to users aged 18 and above, with plans to extend availability in the future.
Users can toggle this feature in their settings anytime.

Google emphasizes greater control over data with these updates. Users can disable 'Personal Context' while 'Temporary Chats,' comparable to an incognito mode, ensure that no personal information is saved.

Google plans to use chat data to improve AI models starting in early September. Users who prefer not to have their data used can opt out by adjusting privacy settings, with a deadline approaching next month.
