Google Releases Gemini 2.5 Deep Think for AI Ultra Subscribers
Google is launching its latest Gemini model, the Gemini 2.5 Deep Think, but access is limited. Initially demonstrated at the I/O conference in May, this advanced AI is designed for tackling complex queries by employing extensive computational resources, and is now available through the Gemini app.
However, access is currently restricted to those subscribed to the AI Ultra plan, priced at $250 per month. This is due to Deep Think's heightened compute requirements, which enable it to analyze problems through multiple approaches, revisiting and remixing hypotheses to produce high-quality outcomes.
Deep Think is built on the same framework as Gemini 2.5 Pro, yet it extends the "thinking time" through increased parallel processing. According to Google's findings, Deep Think demonstrates remarkable proficiency in fields like design aesthetics, scientific reasoning, and coding—areas where its slower, meticulous processing pays off.
When benchmarked against similar models, Deep Think exceeds the performance of Gemini 2.5 Pro, OpenAI's o3, and Grok 4, with particularly notable success in tests like Humanity's Last Exam. This challenging benchmark comprises 2,500 intricate, multi-modal questions across over 100 subjects, where Deep Think earned a 34.8 percent score—surpassing others that only reach 20 to 25 percent.
Mathematics is another key area where Deep Think excels, achieving outstanding results on the AIME benchmark. While there's room for enhancement, especially in competitive settings, a tailored version of Deep Think secured a gold medal in the International Mathematical Olympiad.
This special IMO variant is presently exclusive to certain testers, but Google intends to broaden access. In the meantime, the mainstream version is already capable of achieving bronze medal standings as verified in the 2025 IMO.
Subscribers to Google's AI Ultra plan can start using Deep Think within the Gemini app and web interface from today. Although not found in the primary model menu, it's accessible as a tool that complements Gemini 2.5 Pro. Despite the expensive subscription, Google imposes a daily query limit on Deep Think, with specifics undisclosed, suggesting possible adjustments over time. The API version is also forthcoming, allowing developers to utilize more prompts on a subscription basis.
