Intel CEO Responds to Trump’s Criticism
Intel's CEO, Lip-Bu Tan, has issued a statement in response to President Donald Trump's demand for his resignation, dismissing the claims as "misinformation." In a recent memo to employees, Tan stood by his ethics and business practices while working to realign the chipmaker’s trajectory.
Tan, who joined Intel in March 2025, became a subject of interest after Trump declared him "highly conflicted," urging for his immediate resignation through a post on Truth Social. This comes amid concerns raised by Senator Tom Cotton over Tan's previous ties with Chinese companies during his tenure with Cadence Design Systems.
In his memo, Tan clarified that his industry relationships are built on ethical foundations and highlighted Intel’s ongoing cooperation with the administration to resolve these issues. Tan also reiterated Intel’s strategic focus on headcount reduction and cost-cutting measures, including plans for new AI initiatives.
President Trump has a history of influencing US companies through tariffs and other pressures, urging enterprises like Walmart and Coca-Cola to adjust to the administration's policies. Unlike other tech leaders who chose personal interactions with Trump, Tan’s approach has been less conciliatory.
